Mission & Goals
The Southern Indiana Rural Development Project is an action-oriented, not-for profit organization dedicated to raising the quality of life in Southern Indiana through community and economic development.
In reaching the long-range goals of the organization, SIRDP partners with and receives support from corporate sponsors, not-for-profit organizations and municipal, county and state governments.
Some of the long-range goals of SIRDP are to:
- Analyze the economy of rural Southern Indiana
- Develop regional programs that address:
- Employment
- Income
- Education
- Quality of Life
- Infrastructure
- Collect case studies of rural economic success stories
- Develop better trained leaders
- Create realistic models for economic development
SIRDP's organizational goals focus on:
- Defining regional strengths and weaknesses,
- Providing measurable benchmarks,
- Creating realistic strategies,
- Implementing or overseeing implementation of action programs, and
- Monitoring results over a three-five year term.
SIRDP intends to continue implementing its current programs throughout
Southern Indiana. As programs conclude, SIRDP will evaluate the success of the program and begin implementation in another
Southern Indiana location. All of SIRDP's programs can be replicated and transferred beyond the borders of the State of
Indiana. SIRDP continually works toward developing new programs for implementation.
